You can get your life back.

You can get your life back.
I can help.
I work with people who are feeling irritated by patterns that seem to keep playing out over and over again in their lives. These patterns create issues for them, and they crave meaningful and long lasting change.
The ways that we were cared for in our earliest relationships become templates that we apply to all of our adult relationships. If your earliest relationships were scary, chaotic, unpredictable, and unsafe, then you may have a hard time connecting with others now. You may gravitate towards unpredictable and chaotic people. You may people please by saying yes when you really mean no, even at your own expense. You may desperately crave connection but find it hard to trust other people.
As we work together, my goal is to help you understand your story on a deeper level, so that you can finally take your life back and live it the way that you were meant to.
In addition to utilizing regular talk therapy, I am knowledgeable in two different evidence-based trauma modalities that I use to help people process past traumas and decrease distressing symptoms. IFS helps people to heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts that hold the pain and trauma.
EMDR is a trauma modality that works by using bilateral eye movements in a controlled, manualized fashion to help you heal from old traumas and decrease stress associated with disturbing memories. In our work together, we may choose to weave one or both of these modalities into your therapy to help deepen your ability to process.
I offer IFS intensives at my practice. An intensive is a unique and powerful way to safely process a lot of traumatic material all at once, rather than to space it out between weeks, months, or even years. In this way, you will feel relief and peace more quickly. Many people prefer intensives as a more effective way to process their trauma, rather than having to open and close their traumatic memories over multiple sessions.
In an IFS intensive, we explore deeply and focus not just on the symptoms you bring to therapy, but the underlying beliefs about yourself that are driving those symptoms. An intensive creates the space and time for you to work through these old belief systems, reprocessing and converting them into something more functional, all in the comfort and safety of my office space.
We will first do a consult to go over your history together. If it is determined that an intensive is right for you, we will then establish your goals and what you would like to work on during the intensive. We will set aside anywhere from 2 to 5 hours, depending on how much material is to be processed.
How do you know if an IFS intensive might be for you?
-You have been in therapy for several years but feel like you have not accomplished much. The same old habits and patterns keep playing out and just don't seem to go away.
-You have been diligent about practicing all of your coping skills and yet still feel "stuck" no matter what you try.
Hello! My name is JC Andries, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trauma therapist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have both a bachelor's and a master's degree in social work and I earned my MSW in 2021 from Louisiana State University. I have been practicing clinically since 2021 and have successfully treated people with a variety of issues. My area of interest lies in the treatment of sexual and developmental trauma. My experience also includes the treatment of general stress and anxiety, abandonment issues, family of origin issues, codependency, and grief.
Therapists do self care too! My favorite self care activities include yoga and walks around the neighborhood. I also enjoy gardening and practicing archery! When I am not at work, I love spending time with my family and playing with my two cats.
